More Phinkalinkalinks

ok - this is (hopefully) my last blog about phinkalinkalinks. i had a couple of people ask me about this word - where it came from, why i use it and what it means. as i stated in a previous blog it is what i call the "PH" stuff that is in diet soft drinks, sweet & low and many other things. It is not good for you - but I found out it is in my vitamin C.
Why do I use this word? I use it because I can not pronounce the "ph" stuff (see previous blog to find full spelling of the "ph" word). Plus, I like to say phinkalinkalinks.
Where did this word come from? I must give props where props are due. This fun word to say came from my brother - Joe (I'll introduce him later). During one of my mom's visits here to Auburn, i was having a conversation with my mom and my brother about medications, vitamins, things to stay away from (that you eat and drink), etc....... my brother had bought some gum (or something) and it had "ph" in it. he said "Wow, my gum has phinkalinkalinks in it!" I had never heard this word and thought it was funny. I had him repeat it several times so I could understand what he was saying.
that is the origin of the word - phinkalinkalinks (I promise - i will try not to use this word again... especially in the title)

10 Years

Glen and I just celebrated our 10 year anniversary - on July 18, 2008
For our anniversary, we decided to take a vacation.... we have travelled to other countries before so we decided to travel somewhere here in the US. I decided on Chicago since I have never been there before. Glen was completely excited about going since he grew up there, still had a couple of family members there and had not been back in several years. Our trip was for 9 days... I spent months planning where we were going to stay and what we were going to do. We stayed at The Drake Hotel in downtown chicago. This hotel is amazing with a very rich history. We went to every museum and exhibit we could during this vacation. We figured it would be awhile before we had the opportunity to come back. The 2 things we enjoyed the most was an architectural boat tour on the river and going to see Cirque Du Soleil. If you ever have the opportunity to see one of their shows - you must go!! We purchased the Tapas Rouge tickets which is VIP and is well worth it! Anyway - here are some photos from our trip!

Thank Goodness!

Ok - I got the music thing fixed.
THanks!!!!

MUSIC!! - HELP

Ok - this blog is a blog about needing HELP!!
I have a laptop (hubby has his own PC) anyway - i ALWAYS keep my volume off on my laptop - the only time I ever turn it on is when I am watching a video on TMZ or youtube. Is it really All About Me?

So - the title of my blog is "It's all about me" but is it really? This blog IS about me - to write about my thoughts and feelings and what is going on in my life. Part of my life is my family and friends. So I want to introduce you to my family. (one member at a time)

My husband, Glen, and I met 11 years ago - I actually remember the night we "officially" met. It was October 17 1997. I remember because my birthday is on October 18 and I was out with some friends at a local bar celebrating my bday that night.

glen and i just celebrated our 10 year anniversary. He is my best friend. I could not imagine life with anyone else.

Glen is originally from Chicago (actually Libertyville – a suburb or Chicago). He moved to the small town of Heber Springs Arkansas when he was in high school and then came to Auburn for college. After graduating from Auburn University, he started working as a police officer for the university and then a year later, for the city of Auburn. He is no longer working as a police officer… not because he didn’t enjoy it but because during one of our several moves, financially it just wasn’t possible – as that particular area only paid about minimum wage to officers. I think he misses being an officer but he does enjoy not working nights, weekends, and holidays – and most importantly, he doesn’t have to work during football games. Here in Auburn, if there is a home football game – all officers have to be working. I would not want to work during a football game either!

phinkalinkalinks

by the way - the phinkalinkalinks are not helping. i was more congested and feverish today. maybe i need more phinkalinkalinks! or a steroid shot from dr. V!

Spell Check and work

I was reading one of RO's blogs the other day and she mentioned something about checking her blog for spelling or the words she used and not hitting the preview button before she posts ..... (sorry - don't remember exact wording on her blog) and thought..... hmm..... did i preview my blogs before i posted? was i as daring as RO? so... i went back and re-read my blogs. Now, i am typically above average with spelling, grammar, and the correct use of the english language... but... not so much on the blogs - I believe that RO also said this is her "non-business writing". I believe, I will have to take the same approach. Thanks RO!
i do not want to have to check my spelling or make sure that what i typed even made sense. this is a forum for me to "talk" and say what i want.

well, today was very interesting for me. I found out my job is being moved into another department and i will have a new boss. he is already a director at work but will now be my director. don't get me wrong...... he seems like a nice person... but i absolutely love my current director (we will call him BH). BH will still be there - just not as my director - someone elses director. i love change - i dislike doing the same thing day in and day out - so i am trying to approach this in a positive way. but i have worked only for BH in the past 4 years and i really did not want to work for anyone else. was happy working for BH and i'm going to really miss working for BH. this change could be either really good..... or really bad. only time will tell..... i will keep you updated. (Monday will be weird going into work)

Thoughts ....... Vitamins........ Phinkalinkalinks

as i sit and read thru other blogs - i ask myself... do i have anything important to say on here? the answer..... no, probably not. but, i will try. i am just starting to get the hang of this - we will see where it goes.

today, i started to feel like crap. so i stopped by cvs and picked up some vitamin c and echinacea. some people say taking vitamins and herbs will not keep you from getting sick. my thoughts are it can't hurt to try - as long as you do not od on them - so why not try.
but after i got home, opened up my big bottle of vit c and took one - i read the back of the bottle. my good ol bottle of vit c contains phinkalinkalinks!! (phenylketonurics) who would have thought that vitamins would contain something you should not take! who would have thought to read what is in vitamins! so then, i read the back of the echinacea bottle. Thankfully, it only contains ech. and it is stamped "Natural Whole Herb". hopefully, my vit c / phinkalinkalinks and echinacea will make me feel better in the next day or two.!

can you tell i like saying phinkalinkalinks (pronounced: phink alink alinks)! who can even pronounce phenylketonurics!

Before the AU / LSU Game

It is just a couple of hours before the football game. For those of you who have never experienced not only football in the south but SEC Football, Saturdays are crazy. We got up this morning and drove around town and campus. The amount of people, tents and rvs is just wild. It is just one big party. I have some video footage and will try to post it on here later. We drove around for a while and then went over to Buffalos to eat lunch. The game isn't until 6:45pm (central time) so we decided to come home for just a bit and then we are going to try to get back downtown and watch the game at the Skybar. it is right downtown. We would love to go to the game but tickets are going for $150 each and i don't want to pay that much.
Once I have time to sit down and figure this blogging thing out, I will add some pictures and videos.
Take care

Blogs?

I am very new to this blogging thing. other than facebook or myspace, I have not done this before. I found several old friends today and in the process found this really neat website. Thanks Stephanie! This is really nice since most of my family is in NC and my friends are scattered around the US - now they can get on here and see what is going on in my life!
I plan on updating this frequently and adding pictures often!
